Welcome and thank you for visiting In Reach.

As a parent and the PTA president at my daughter's school many years ago, I was able to experience first hand how little resources and apparent concern Prince George's County as a community has for its children. This deficit encouraged my already present desire to work with children and youth. This is how In Reach came to be. It is an act of pure commitment, dedication and love.

I have always enjoyed working directly with high school aged students and on behalf of children and youth in general. My now young adult daughter and several of her friends have been incredibly inspirational to me and most of them serve as spokesperson for their peers in my work. I have had the benefit of learning about the varied experiences of teens from being in the community, knowing and interacting with many of the youth. And I have experienced the tremendous joy and sometimes sadness of listening to their stories. Stories that help them define what their futures will look like.

As In Reach continues to develop meaningful programming that will prepare all students for college, work and life, it is a process of building infrastructure, raising awareness and visibility, and maintaining sustainability. I am committed to improving the lives of children and youth - particularly girls - and so for whatever heartaches, frustrations or sheer delights that come along with the territory, I am committed to enduring.

Although the tasks are many, I believe, together, we can make a difference for Prince George's County, Maryland.
