Literacy+Learning
tools to help youth navigate life with confidence
Welcome to Literacy + Learning. A space built for young people ages 16–24 who are figuring things out, asking big questions, and moving toward their next chapter.
This isn’t about being “good” or “bad” at school.
It’s about building the skills you need to understand information, speak up for yourself, keep learning, and move forward — on your own terms.
Why Literacy + Learning?
Reading and learning don’t stop at the classroom door.
Every day, youth are expected to understand:
-
Job applications and emails
-
College requirements and deadlines
-
Financial forms and contracts
-
Workplace expectations
-
Health and mental health information
But no one really teaches youth how to break these things down — or how to learn in a way that works for them.
That’s where we come in.
Literacy + Learning gives youth practical tools to:
-
Make sense of real‑life information
-
Build confidence in reading and writing
-
Learn how they learn best
-
Navigate school, work, and everyday responsibilities
Some of What You’ll Find Here
📖 Reading Real Life
Learn how to understand the things adults assume youth already know - like job postings, college emails, and important documents. Get help with professional emails, applications, resumes, and speaking up for yourself - without sounding fake or forced.
🧠 Learning How You Learn
Discover study strategies, focus tools, and learning styles that work with your life - not against it.
🎓 The C's (Credentials, College, Career) Without the Confusion
Break down college language, expectations, and systems so youth can move forward with clarity and confidence. Understand workplace norms, communication styles, feedback, and growth — especially the things no one explains.
💸 Life "Home Base" Skills
Learn how to read paychecks, budgets, credit info, and financial agreements without shame or overwhelm. Cooking on a budget, what those laundry symbols actually mean, and how to find an apartment. Build understanding around your health, well‑being, and how to find and ask for support.
🌱 Tools for the Journey
Strengthen self‑advocacy, boundaries, and confidence. Your experiences matter — and your voice does too.
